How DataMapper Pro handles imported files, saved settings, subscription licenses, and optional AI features.

Updated October 9, 2026 · DataMapper Pro

1. Scope and purpose

This policy describes DataMapper Pro, the Chrome extension from SquatchBro Labs LLC. DataMapper Pro imports structured files, applies reusable mappings and transformations, previews and validates results, and exports files. Paid features use license verification; optional AI proposes transformation recipes for you to review. Our website privacy notice separately describes our website.

2. Files and local processing

The files you choose, including CSV, TSV, JSON, XML, XLSX (Excel) and lookup files, are processed locally in your browser. Ordinary importing, transformation, preview, validation and export do not upload your datasets to a SquatchBro Labs server, OpenAI or Lemon Squeezy.

Your files and mapping content can contain personal or sensitive information. You control which files you import and which fields you include in exports. DataMapper Pro does not read your browsing history, scrape visited websites, record your clicks or keystrokes for analytics, or collect GPS location. Transformation statistics are calculated locally.

3. Saved projects, settings and credentials

Chrome's local extension storage retains saved or imported projects, preferences and license information. A project can include source filenames and column names, transformations and mapping text, output column definitions, static values, export settings, an anonymizer seed, and last-run row counts and timestamps. Lookup-table rows included in a project are saved with it and can contain actual data values. Primary source rows and workbook contents are held in the working panel's memory and are not automatically saved as the primary dataset.

License storage includes the license key, activation-instance identifier, plan, activation usage and limit, and last validation time. Preferences include the theme, onboarding state and selected AI model. This build does not use Chrome storage sync.

Your optional OpenAI API key is held in panel memory and Chrome's in-memory session storage. It is cleared when Chrome restarts or when the extension is disabled, reloaded or updated. Use the key's Clear control to remove it sooner. The extension does not add stored license or API credentials to project or data exports. Values you deliberately put into source data, lookup tables, mapping text or other exportable content are still your data and may be exported.

4. Purchases and license verification

Purchases occur on Lemon Squeezy's hosted checkout. The extension does not receive payment card numbers. Lemon Squeezy processes checkout, payment and subscription information under its own terms.

Activation sends your license key and the fixed instance name “DataMapper Pro - Chrome” directly to Lemon Squeezy. Validation and deactivation send your license key and activation-instance identifier. After activation, the extension can revalidate a stored license when you reopen the panel and the previous validation is at least one day old. Imported files, source rows and mapping content are not sent with these requests.

Lemon Squeezy's response can include license status, activation information, order/product/variant identifiers and customer name, email address and customer identifier. The extension reads this response to verify the product and entitlement; it saves the selected license fields described above, rather than the returned customer-name/email fields. Lemon Squeezy also receives technical connection information, including your IP address. See Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy.

5. Optional OpenAI features

AI requests are sent only when you choose to generate an AI plan. The extension connects directly to OpenAI using your API key and sends your instructions, available column names, allowed transformation types, model selection, generation settings, system instructions and the structured-response schema. OpenAI receives your API key for authentication and technical connection information, including your IP address.

The extension does not automatically attach source rows, cell values, lookup tables, source files, filenames, saved projects or previews to these requests. Anything you type into your instructions, and information present in column names, is sent to OpenAI. Remove personal or confidential values before sending a request unless you are authorized to share them.

Requests set store: false to request that response records are not saved for later retrieval. This is not a promise of zero retention: OpenAI can retain information for abuse monitoring and other purposes described in its API data controls, privacy policy and your account's applicable terms and settings. Your OpenAI API charges are separate from the DataMapper subscription.

6. Sharing and limited use

The extension sends data to Lemon Squeezy for licensing and to OpenAI for AI requests you initiate, as described above. We do not sell extension user data, use it for advertising, or use or transfer it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.

Our use and transfer of extension user data follow the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements: data is used for the extension's disclosed purpose and related user-facing functionality. We do not use or transfer it for unrelated purposes. We do not allow human access to extension user data except with your explicit consent for specific support data, where necessary for security, or where required by law. The extension does not provide us with remote access to your locally processed files.

7. Security and retention

External license and AI requests use HTTPS. Application errors are designed to avoid exposing stored credentials in logs, notifications or alerts. These controls do not guarantee absolute security.

The current build does not apply application-level encryption to license information or projects saved in Chrome's local extension storage. Browser extension storage is not a dedicated encrypted secrets vault. Protect your browser profile and device, avoid shared profiles for sensitive work, and protect exported files. Local saved information remains until you delete it or remove the extension's storage; clearing browsing history alone does not necessarily remove extension storage.

Exported files remain wherever you save them. Provider-held checkout, subscription, license and AI records follow the providers' retention policies. Clearing local information does not delete those records.

8. Choices and deletion

  • Use local transformations without generating an AI plan to avoid sending prompt and column-name content to OpenAI.
  • Use Clear beside the OpenAI key to remove it from the panel and session storage.
  • Delete a saved project to remove that project's locally stored settings and lookup-table rows. This does not delete exported copies or the original source file.
  • Use Deactivate this device to release a license activation and clear the local license record after successful deactivation. Other saved projects and settings remain.
  • Removing the extension clears its local extension storage. This does not automatically release a remote license activation, cancel a subscription, delete exported files or erase provider records.
  • Manage billing and subscription records through Lemon Squeezy's customer tools or contact support. For AI-provider records, use the applicable OpenAI account controls.

9. Contact and changes

For privacy questions or help with deletion, email support@squatchbrolabs.com — Squatch Guide, SquatchBro Labs. If you contact support, we receive the address, message and any attachments you choose to send; avoid including credentials or unnecessary personal information.

We will update this policy when product practices change and disclose material changes to data handling before they take effect.
